City Car Club is Britain’s largest car club, providing members with 24/7 access to hundreds of vehicles around the country. By going online and selecting a vehicle and time slot, a device in the vehicle allows members to gain access using a smart card.

Designing the App

We streamlined this process by creating a bespoke City Car Club app, bringing all of the functionality of the website to the iPhone.

The Functionality

Using the app, members can find a car and directions to its location, book it, and finally unlock and lock the vehicle.

How It Works

By writing a bespoke API to handle all of the booking information, we managed to get the app to ‘shake-hands’ with City Car Club’s very complex vehicle management system.

The Result

With over 5,000 bookings made through the app it’s proved to be a great success. The app has also provided City Car Club with 54,000 points of location data helping them to identify where to place their next bays.
